1. Eat (ONLY) Healthy Food
- The safe and optimal diet both to help achieve a healthy weight, and improve your fertility, is plant forward nutrient centered nutrition.
- Eating a variety of healthy foods can help prepare a woman's body for pregnancy by giving her adequate stores of critical nutrients such as calcium, folate, protein and iron.
- Optimize your diet to be organic, GMO free and always nutrient-rich.
- Supplement strategically to avoid any macronutrient or micronutrient deficiencies. In the Pregnancy Advantage™ program you will be skillfully advised on nutrients of particular concern for creating a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

2. Reverse Chronic Health Issues First
Reversing major chronic health issues will help you to increase your chances of conceiving, but also will help you as you carry your child and in the delivery room. There is a reason they call it labor. While there are quite a few major health issues you must and should address, we chose to focus on two of the most common.
Diabetes
Reversing major chronic health issues will help you to increase your chances of conceiving, but also will help you as you carry your child and in the delivery room. There is a reason they call it labor. While there are quite a few major health issues you must and should address, we chose to focus on two of the most common.
Diabetes
- Having persistently elevated glucose (sugar) levels in your blood, will not only decrease your ability to conceive, but will increase the risk of birth defects, miscarriage, fetal growth issues, and labor complications.
- By changing what you eat, the cause of insulin resistance, will melt away, and your blood sugars will generally normalize.
- It is still imperative that you get your blood sugars in control prior to a pregnancy to reduce the risk of developing gestational diabetes during your pregnancy.
- The Pregnancy Advantage™ program is designed to teach and support you to reverse your insulin resistance, help normalize your blood sugars, and reduce your risk of developing gestational diabetes.
Hypertension
- Much like diabetes, having uncontrolled high blood pressure prior to pregnancy is going to be a huge complication during your pregnancy.
- When you start your pregnancy with blood pressures of 130-139/80-89, you are at risk of developing serious complications later in your pregnancy, including preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and preterm delivery.
- A woman is 5 times more likely to develop preeclampsia if she has chronic hypertension, than if her blood pressures are normal before conception. Preeclampsia is a very serious condition that can lead to maternal and/or fetal death.
- Dietary sodium is a major contributor to hypertension, and the typical modern diet is full of sodium. Our program teaches you healthier alternatives.
- The weekly coaching you receive in the Pregnancy Advantage™ will ensure that you understand how your diet and lifestyle affects your blood pressure, and we will help you create delicious meals to satisfy any palate. We even know of “salty” alternatives that do not increase your blood pressure!

3. Reverse Obesity & Remove Toxins
- In the US, more than 60% of reproductive-age women are overweight, and 35% are obese, and significant amounts of stored adipose (fat) tissue, will not only diminish your ability to conceive, but also affect the health of your child, once you do conceive.
- There is no shame in being overweight; we know that this is not an issue of personal will power, but neither should it be trivialized, as the effects on the both male and female fertility as well as the fetus are concerning. We can help you to achieve the sweet spot of BMI to optimize your chances of getting pregnant.
- Maternal obesity creates inflammation and oxidative stress in the fetus that leads to intellectual disability (decreased IQ) and cognitive defects (e.g. autism and cerebral palsy) in the child.
- There are also chemicals in our environment that contribute to obesity in your own body and in your child, and you will learn in our program how to avoid these toxins so you can get pregnant.
The number one goal of the Pregnancy Advantage™ program is to help you prepare your body for optimum fertility and a healthy, complication-free pregnancy and delivery of the healthiest child possible!

I am a Board Certified OBGYN, Lifestyle Medicine Physician, and Certified Health Coach with 28 years of clinical practice after my residency. I was not taught about nutrition as it relates to fertility in my original training, but I have been studying plant-based nutrition for the past 7 years. I have a certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell’s Center for Nutrition Studies, and I have obtained over 150 hours of continuing education in plant-based nutrition. I personally eat a low-fat whole plant food diet with minimal oil, salt or sugar. I needed to learn how to cook food without oil, and took the Rouxbe Cooking School Forks Over Knives 3-month course. I am a certified health coach, through Health Coach Institute and have helped many individuals transform their diets and their approach to food and health. I have seen remarkable disease reversal in my clients, and believe strongly in the power of transformational coaching. I am also ethically vegan and was trained as a Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator, though Main Street Vegan Academy.

I earned my doctorate in science and education and have taught for over 30 years. I am a firm believer in “walking the walk” and am committed to inspiring people to change their health destiny through a non-toxic whole-foods, plant-based lifestyle. Being passionate about making a difference in the lives of others, I teach practical ways to improve their health. I believe that food is our best medicine and helps us get our bodies back to a state of health when faced with “dis”-ease. I have been sharing my knowledge through motivational and educational lectures as well as on my website www.SimplyPlantBased.net.
I have followed a plant-based diet since 2009. My transformation to a healthier lifestyle began with a trip to the emergency room with a 105 degree fever, deadly high blood pressure and an unknown infection. Luckily, the physician who attended me was not only trained in medicine but also in nutrition. This doctor started me on a journey that would not only change my health destiny, but my life as well. I have successfully completed the coursework from Dr. John McDougall on the Starch Solution, earned my Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate through eCornell - Center for Nutritional Studies and completed the Women’s Studies and Food Over Medicine program through Dr. Pam Popper and the Wellness Forum.
